My Reality

Oct. 21st, 2007 05:19 pm Gatlinburg Weekend

In September, we got to go to Gatlinburg for a long weekend. A friend of my husbands was getting hitched and we decided to make it a kid free weekend. This was a HUGE deal for us because we NEVER get away from all three boys at once. Our last kid free break was in May of 2001. We went to Vegas for our one year anniversary. Then we had a baby and we really don't have a support system (aka familial babysitter) that lives nearby. So, we always drag our little one everywhere. To dinner, the movies (haven't seen an adult movie in the theater in quite some time), to the store...everywhere. So we were uber excited!

We arranged for Preston to stay with my sister and we decided to leave the teenagers home alone. Of course we had neighbors and friends checking in on them, so I was able to actually enjoy my mini vacation. We got lost hunting for the cabin. We drove forever it seemed. Finally, we found the check-in at the realtors office and made our way up the mountain to our cabin. Of course I HAD to pick a cabin at the TOP. Jeez. The drive was frightening. Narrow road with drop offs on either side. I got used to it, but the first time up was a real gut wrencher.

We settled in and then headed out to dinner with a friend and her husband from high school. It had been 16 years since I'd seen her. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and had a great time. We ended up at Puckers, a local beer joint. The hubs had to stay sober so he could get us safely up that mountain, but us girls....we got toasted! So toasted that we considered karaoke but we chickened out. LOL....

The next day, we got ready for the wedding and went shopping. They have outlet stores everywhere in Pigeon Forge and I found the Coach outlet. Snagged a purse and wallet that would have cost over $600 for only $190! I love a good deal! We arrived at the chapel and let me tell you....this is the way to do it! The chapel was beautiful, and it included everything. It was very nice. The reception was held at Ripley's Aquarium. That was pretty cool. One whole wall was an aquarium with sharks and stingrays swimming around. They were very interested in what we were doing. LOL....

Everyone else was going to go change and then head out to the local bars for some celebrating. We decided to pass, as we wanted some romantic time alone with no kids and our cabin had a hot tub. I won't give you the details, but we had a great time! Our mini trip ended all too soon.

The pic attached to this post is of my friend and I. On our way to the bar, we stumbed across some Autumn decorations and decided to have a little fun! I'm the goofball sitting in the outhouse!

If you ever have the opportunity to go to Gatlinburg, I highly recommend renting a cabin. It was quiet and it was private and it was lovely. The view from our deck was spectacular!

My husband and I went to Gatlinburg for a friends wedding. We rented a cabin at the top of a mountain and left all the kids at home. ...lol. We shopped, went to a few Ripley museums and hung out at the cabin. It was great to get away because we haven't been anywhere alone in over 6 years. We really needed it.

Yes folks, I'm a Dick Donato fan. I loved the guy and miss seeing him rant, rave, smoke and spit three nights a week. No idea why I like him so much....I figure it's because he said what he was thinking while everyone else just talked behind everyones back.

Dave left on Survivor. I'm not surprised. It's been brewing for awhile now. At least Todd doesn't have to 'return the favor' if he gets kidnapped. I could have sworn the previews showed Jeff saying...Drop your buffs....but I must have heard that wrong because it didn't happen. Perhaps that happens next week? It's time for something to happen. I have a few favorites on each tribe and would love to see them altogether on one tribe, but my luck doesn't swing that way.

I'm enjoying this season of Beauty and The Geek. The girls don't seem as catty as past seasons and I think they might not be quite as dumb, as well. I'm not saying they are brainiacs, but they seem to realize they need to study. I'd love to see Sam go, but that would mean that Nicole would have to leave, too. I really like her. I can't wait to see the Geek Make-over episode. I'm sure there is a hottie waiting to get out from under that frumpy hair. I can't believe Sam was calous enough to boink Rebecca on the top bunk while poor Nicole was sleeping on the bottom bunk. Class, he has not. If I'd been Nicole, I wouldn't have left the room. I would have drew up knees and kicked the crap out of that top mattress. Several times. Hard.

Kid Nation. What can I say? Oh...plenty. I have plenty to say! LOL...Taylor is a horrible council(wo)man. She is lazy and doesn't do her share. I understand she is young, but she signed up for this...she should just bite the bullet and do it, or as she would say...DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!!! Ugh. Too bad they can't vote her out. Greg...I think he should get a star. I honestly think his attitude would improve if those little kids showed him some appreciation. I don't agree with the way he acts, but I can understand why he does it. He's taking orders from kids that are younger than him. My sons would react the same way. Most kids would. He had to kill the chickens, he had to put the pottys upright...he gets all these dirty jobs and nobody seems to recognize that fact. He's probably also bored out of his mind. That's all I'm going to say because I could be here all damn night...lol

The Bachelor. Okay. I don't think he is the hottest bachelor ever. Nope. But, I like him. He seems more real than any other bachelor to date. He seems sincere and he doesn't fall for the nakedness happening. Lolita..er...Solisa tried her best. Another girl wanted him to get into the pool and he chose not to. It speaks a lot of his character. He actually thinks of the other girls feelings. Can we please get rid of McFarten already, though? Now?

I admit it...I'm a tv junkie. I love it. Can't get enough. I have my DVR working overtime every night and I still have to watch shows online! I'm sad, I know. The show I'm miss the most is Jericho. I'm waiting with bated breath for it to return. After all, I helped save it. Yes, I was one of the many who annoyed the hell out of CBS with phone calls, e-mails and nuts. If you haven't watched it...go to CBS.com and watch the premiere episode. Just give it a try. That's all I ask. It's a great show with a great cast and there is always something going on.

I'm also enjoying Pushing Daisies. It's not what I expected, but I like it. It's like nothing else on tv and I like that. It's not another hospital drama, lawyer show or CSI. It's completely different and it's funny. Corny, too.

Oct. 11th, 2007 07:44 pm Crabtastic

I'm crabby today. I woke up with a headache and nothing I do cures it. Tuesday, it was 91 degrees and yesterday it was 57. Today is 57. I wonder if that has something to do with it. I'm not ready for cool weather. I prefer it hot and muggy. So, I have a headache, it's cold and my 5 year old has been a pain in the ass today. He has argued with me all damn day. He didn't want to get into the shower. He didn't want to go to the grocery store. No kidding. I didn't want to either. He didn't want to get out of the car. He didn't want any candy. I was trying to bribe him and for the first time ever....he states he doesn't like candy. WHAT? My son, the candy addict doesn't like candy? I swear I could see his little button nose growing as he firmly stated this. Then, he didn't want to come into the house. He didn't want to eat dinner. And of course, he didn't want to stand in the corner. LOL....I'm praying he curls up on the sofa and passes out soon.

My oldest son is 17, thinks he knows everything and knows which buttons to push. He drove to town to hang out with a friend and called a few minutes ago to let me know that his power steering pump just bit it. He wants us to find someone to fix it. Here is the thing...he goes to a trade high school. He is in the Auto Mechanics class. This is his second year. He knows how to fix it. He also works at a car lot after school. Hello? Fix it yourself! Jeez.

My middle son is 15 and for the first time ever, has behaved himself all day. LOL...He is  just like me, personality wise and we often butt heads. He will be driving soon and I'm nervous as hell. This is the kid who can't ride his bike 3 blocks without wrecking it. The kid that is very agile on the basketball court, but clumsy in his everyday life. The kid that is terrified to drive a go-kart over 10 mph. And he is going to be driving a car at 55 mph on a road with other people driving. Yikes! I'm scared!
